  • Towards the end of August most wattles have begun to flower.

Animals

  • The birds are beginning their nest building activities, especially the magpies. If there are any young hanging around from the previous breeding season early in the month, by the end of the month they have been driven out of the breeding pair's territory.
  • Lizards begin to appear in sunny spots around the garden.
  • More insects are around the garden by the end of the month.
  • Bees are seen hovering around wattle blossoms.
