Gazebo

The gazebo is one of our open air classrooms.

It was constructed by participants at a mud brick workshop together with volunteers. It has a steel frame and mud brick walls using the red clay from the ErinEarth dam.

The Windows

Three stained glass windows set into the walls tell the stories of the site:

  • The first window tells the Wiradjuri story of Gugaa the Goanna and the formation of the Murrumbidgee River.
  • The second is the Irish story of the Presentation Sisters from Kildare who came to the site in 1874 and established the Sacred Heart Mount Erin Convent in 1876.
  • The third window depicts the ErinEarth story "walking lightly on the land".

Leith Russell of Ladysmith designed and made the windows. She also designed the ErinEarth logo of the leaf and foot side-by-side.
