Livingstone National Park protects the only available example of South-West Slopes tall shrubland forest on public land in NSW. It contains important habitat for numerous woodland bird species, as well as squirrel and sugar gliders.
Livingstone is a rare example of what was common before settlement. Notice how the plants change from the exposed ridges to the sheltered gullies. Try to visit and different times of the year and see the changes in the plants. Best times for wildflowers are from late winter to late spring but you will find things to see at all times of the year.
Wildflowers including orchids give a spectacular and colourful spring display.
Be sure to see the dense stand of grass trees!
Animals you may see are grey kangaroos, black wallabies, goannas and wombats.
The area was once used by the Army for training. You may come across plastic shell cases from blanks and other traces of ambushes, camps, etc.
